Proposal
Proposal: Progressive Collapse Analysis and Mitigation Design
The proposal for the progressive collapse analysis and design will utilize the alternate load path analysis method and examine and compare two design solutions to prevent a progressive collapse. One of the design solutions will consist of multiple full-story trusses located at the mechanical penthouse level that will provide global stability if a column is removed. The other design solution will be comprised of hardened members in a localized area surrounding removed columns. Both designs will be optimized to ensure that a progressive collapse of the structure is prevented in the event that a critical structural element is lost. The proposal will comply to standards and requirements provided by the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC 4-010- 01) and the General Services Administration (GSA 2016) Alternate Path Analysis & Design Guidelines for Progressive Collapse Resistance.
